Shot to Pieces

by Gem   Jan 17, 2009

He walked into her life and into her heart
From the most moment, were rarely apart
Basked in the glow of young loves sweet dream
But as we all know, nothings as it seems

Cleaning up after him, always on call
He's never around to catch her when she falls
Whatever she does, she never does it right
She doesn't mind, loves clouding her sight

Blinded by worship, she bows down to him
Not knowing this game is one she can't win
Sitting up at night, always left alone
No point in ringing to hear dial tones

Her friends despair of him and his ways
According to her it's just a 'wee phase'
"Each couple has trouble, it's a way of life"
She says with a smile, perfect Stepford Wife

To his wandering ways she turns a blind eye
Being with him, she'll never jeopardize
Her hearts shot to pieces and she doesn't care
As long as he's happy, then everythings fair

Know someone like this...I am this woman! Well, I was, sadly that relationship's over. Anyway, I've not come to talk about my pain, I've come to comment on your piece, crazily enough, lol.

To be honest, nothing really jump out at me in this piece, apart from the fact it was close to home, personally. I felt it was all a bit average, I'm afraid. The words, rhymes, structure were all things that have all been seen quite a few times before.

However, one thing that did catch me off guard, was the Stepford Wife line. I thought that particularly was very well used and unique.
