The Golden Locket

by geeeeee   Dec 11, 2006

Around the neck of this young girl
Lay resting on her heart
A gold locket with a hidden secret
From her very first true love
She vowed to never move forwards
Or accept that on the very black day
Tears were shed, his casket lowered
In the very month of May
And her Dear mother holds her hand
Father and sister too
She pulls away from them all
Smiles are far from few
Young child they all whisper to her
Young child life must go on
She opens her mouth to tell them the truth
But the moment is now lost and gone
As they all turn their backs on her
To leave her in her peace
She holds back all her tears
She longs to see fall down her cheek
Forgive me please Mother and Father
Forgive me please sister too
For I know the real truth
It is time I must tell you
As my love lay there so still
In his small hospital bed
His breaths were short and raspy
I lay my head onto his chest
He faintly whispered to me
With such desperation in his eyes
I am not meant to see tomorrows light
You must bid me goodbye
I cannot wait a second more
Please end this pain for me
For if I were to wait for tomorrow
It would be like waiting for eternity
I did just what he asked of me
With gritted teeth and somewhat regret
Even though he is no longer with me
I know he watches over me from heaven
Lastly he gave me a locket
told me to keep it close to my heart
So that even though are hands are out of reach
Our hearts can always be one
