I Am Sure

by Bill Turner   Dec 11, 2006

Starring down the barrel of my life
That dimly lit chasm of memories past
Hurling towards me in the holiday spirit
Turning the temporal lobe to mush
As it is again the holiday rush

Each year this season screams to me
Gripping me in the icy fingers of depression
Forcing me to watch the movies of my life
Reminding me of those that are no longer here
Taking me places I would rather not steer

I have a new life this year, a rebirth if you will
Love has crept into my heart and warmed my soul
And yet that cold blue steel rests between my eyes
Regrets hang in the air like brightly colored bulbs on the tree
At least mom will watch from the heavens when we marry

I am sure of so much in this world, in this life
As the sun rises and sets, the tides pull at the sand
Your love will get me through this, not another close call
So on Christmas day, as families fill with holiday cheer
I will say I do, loving you with my all, sweet dear

I loved this poem. The sadness in the first part and then your happiness in the second is wonderful! Christmas season is a very hard time for me. Great job!

I am so happy for you Bill. You truly deserve all the happiness in the world my friend.

You have touched my heart with this write Bill. And I wish you and your beautiful bride to be many years of happiness together.

The road of the past has held many twists and turns as clouds of darkness brought storms..... but the road to the future has been paved with love and happiness and may the sun always shine for you my friend.

Much love to you both! Muah
