LaSt WiSHeS

by Moon Princess   Dec 12, 2006

Alcohol masks his breath,
another dying sigh leaves his lips.
Lying in the gutter,
his bloody chest pulls and rips.

He tries to open his heavy eyelids,
but darkness is near.
In the background,
his girlfriends screaming he can hear.

Smoke and fire perfumes the air,
and the stench of burning rubber.
Hands reach out pulling,
to take this mangled boy to cover.

He can hear the paramedics rushing around,
as they try to make his dying heart beat.
As soon as dead,
when he hopped in that seat.

Was this his last wish?
To die at seventeen?
On the prom night,
after being crowned King and Queen?

His last wishes for that fatal night,
were to get drunk and score.
Drunk already,
he still asked for 3 beers and more.

So as soon as he got in that car,
with his vision all hazy.
He condemned himself,
and his Queen "sweet Tracey".

His last wishes weren't to be,
fighting to stay alive.
Well this is what happens,
when you drink and drive.

    Drink and driving is wrong.
It's plain wrong. Once you've had a drink you should never get behind the wheel of a car. just walk away.
Excellent poem showing the outcome and the consequences.
    Well done!
