Take A Step Back And Think

Do you ever cry yourself to sleep?
Do you ever think your life turned out bad?
Do you ever wish things were different
And always feel sad?

Is your sorrow really that bad?
is it something you just can't fix?
have you even tried?
Or do you shrug and think 'Forget this?'

So many people cry over silly little things
A broken relationship, a fallout with a friend
Instead of trying to fix things
Instead of trying to make things mend.

There's people being murdered
People being abused
people who are starving
And living their life confused.

There's children with diseases
Children with no mothers
Children being raped
Sometimes by their brothers.

So next time you start to cry
Just take a step back
Stop just to think
Do you have to go through that?

The things you take for granted
Love, health, friends, a happy home
The things you don't really think about
Remember someone else is all alone.

    :-) Nice poem... perhaps I don't completely agree with the lines "So many people cry over silly little things
    A broken relationship, a fallout with a friend" because there are a lot of people that depend emotionally on their relationships and their friends, so in my opinion losing that is a cry-worthy event. But apart from that I thought that you had a marvelous point :-D

    I think that this is true in some cases. Yes, come people do cry over little things that they could fix in their life but there are others that are worse off like you said.

    I really liked the meaning behind this poem, it's different yet very strong and a real eye-opener. Great job, keep it up! 5/5
