On meeting you

by Melissa   Dec 13, 2006

There's a calm compatibility
between your truth
and my wanting honesty,
a deep sense of knowing
that our tongues will lose themselves
in their curiousness
before loss tastes it's inevitable goodbye

Finality is profoundly strange,
yet undeniable in it's ambiguous certitude

Our discovery is still a mystery to me,
but now this addled heart has realized
that strangers are merely people
searching for a unity
to define togetherness
as never being alone,
despite the loneliness
alive in each others soul

My fingers cannot fathom the idea
of not exploring what lies beneath
the windowpanes of your wondering eyes,
so let's expose our preposterous insecurities
and I'll bet the dynamics of hopefulness
are mighty close to the stars
who dream they were alive

It's great that you are still with us Melissa, I really enjoy reading your petry. You really have a way with words, and it's like you can write about anything. It's also nice to read some 'adult' peotry rather than teenage poetry. The quality in language is so much better, and that's what I like, expanding my vocabulary. Although I didn't have to look up any words, I had to read the lines over again. Well done Melissa!
