Candy

I wrote a poem about the book "Candy" by Kevin Brooks... It's a really good book! **

Painted-on masks and dolled-up eyes
Are done for the hidden, deceitful lies
Pretty pinks and bright eyed blues
Are done so as not to hurt you
Mascara painted on the dying face
Sadness, from where, no one can place
Telling you one thing, meaning another
Not just hiding from you, but every other
Foundations of ivory painted on right
Squinting her eyes, holding on tight
Cracked lips behind Red Cherry Number 3
Hiding herself, no way to fool me
Painting her nails on the end of her tips
Hiding the bruises silently forming on her hips
Addicted to the drug, no matter the cost
She could never go back to the life she'd lost
Hiding behind the mask she has made
A shadow of a girl as the light begins to fade

This poem along with the first verse in (shes finally over you) inspired me to write *cover the lies* lol

This poem had perfect flow. It painted a picture into my head and drew me in so quickly, the ending was well also. Great tie up to the poem. Wonderful Job

So sad. How hard it is to see the pain that seems too raw to bear. This was really well done. Loved the imagery you used to relate the feeling within the poem.

    Wonderful
