Losing Identity

by LadyPearl   Dec 20, 2006

So forgotten are those days
where strings of light sang,
sang to my broken heart
so sad and alone

My dreams are fading
into the wind of myths
It's once sweet-smelling scent
Turn foul in my hand

Do I still wish the same
to bend all rules my will,
Or should I remain the angel
many seem to say

I cannot regain innocence
For it is a cage
Locking away that freedom
I have so long forseen

A shadow among my friends
no one knows me as well
as a night where silence lives
and the feel of icy tears

I grasp for my past image
but it defies my call
Tainted with a burdening fate
leaving me to fend

Alone on this changing world
I feel the swirling hues
Taking back the colors
that once painted those days

The depths you have reached when describing the action of losing yourself, was so powerful and heartwrenching. This is a trully a very sad write. One that is felt by many.

    Great job.
