The Better Part Of Me

by Sarah Ann   Dec 24, 2006

And he tries to bring me comfort
Says my heart holds beauty beyond compare
And I'm abusing it. Mistreating life...
Easing up with sheer despair

He pulls me closer, never away
As others let go of my hand
Then there are words that he would say...
But I refuse to understand

Angrily, I explain myself
Loneliness is my favorite friend
And these walls are my protection...
I don't want this pain to end.

Tears well up into his eyes,
His heart pleas for me to reason
Thus, I am able to lie for happiness...
I will do that much to please him.

Now we no longer speak of torture
I have given him...what he wishes to see
Dug me up from what was covering
The better part of me
