Time

by debbylyn   Dec 26, 2006

The flickering shadows on the ground
When the sun is high or low
Tell us how to live our lives
What to do and where to go.

An echo on a canyon wall
When no one can be heard
Repeats the time that we have lost
The time we can't return.

A second goes, a child is born
With time his only friend
A heartbeat stops and time is there
Taking what he lends.

What is time and who is he
To tell us life is done?
Does time belong to yesterday,
Or is our time the sun?

I remember this one too. You had your poems in a bag hidden and I used to go sneak and read them. I am glad you brought them out to share your beautiful words with others. And now I no longer have to sneak to read some good poetry...........
