She's Finally Over You

by aDORKable x3   Dec 31, 2006

She washes the makeup off her pillowcase
As the lines of stress melt off her face
All the letters, tucked away in her drawer
She promises not to look at anymore

All the memories float around her head
As with anything he ever had said
She collects them all and holds them in her hand
She knows now, and now she can understand

She gently places them into a box in that drawer
Another thing she promises not to look at anymore
She glances around her little space
As the hurt and pain is slowly being replaced

No more waiting, spending countless nights alone
No more useless stares at the telephone
She’s ready to move on, to leave the past behind
To search for true love, just something, to find

She laughs at his memory; she laughs at his fun
She thinks to herself, “What’s done is done.”
She removes the pictures of the two of them together
How funny it seems, when you believe in forever

Into a box, a final spot to rest
No more memories scattered around like a mess
She turns to her mirror, her image is shocking
She never knew the beauty that he was blocking

Those dark blue eyes, always hidden behind tears
The lines on her face, created by fears
No more worrying about things, known never to come true
She’s not waiting for wishes or any dreams of you

She’s smiling now, what a change to her face
Like a magical gift, in her hands, has been placed
She has confidence now, no more worrying about stuff
She ended her heartache, enough was enough

So she places the box inside the drawer
And as she locks it, there’s no pain to ignore
She was afraid it might be hard, but she got over it
She’s a fighter who was not about to quit

Now that she doesn’t have to keep her façade
There’s no need for her sweet charade
Times change and most people to do
But one things for sure, She’s Finally Over You

Interesting and I'm glad it seems like she is better off without him. Being with someone is supposed to make you both feel better not stifled or upset in any way, so I'm glad that the person in your poem realised that, and I loved the way it was presented. Not to harsh or sutle. Very interesting, and the topic was something that I don't normally see to often. take care.
