Midnight Rose

by Jemma   Dec 31, 2006

Midnight rose
Such is the flower of my heart
Gathered in moonlight
And in eternal mists
Lying now here upon my heart
Right upon my soul
Lost to all humanity
Enveloped in one last tender kiss
Unforgiving
Cherishing my dying eyes
Something to love in the darkness that comes to take me
So pure yet not untainted
But I think it is I that is the black pigment
Not without its thorns
Pricking my very spirit
And my eyes begin to close
And I whisper a name
As my fond farewell to the world
My arms clutching that flower to my chest
The petals floating in the breeze
And I feel them as though they are a part of me
Or perhaps it is truly a part of you
For it is you I believe holds me in this moment
Grasping at the only dream I dared to not dismiss
And how I dreamed
All of a lifetime in one moment
Lying with my heart bare
With my little piece of the night
I do not wish to see the sun rise
To see me as I am
A lonesome stranger
With a rose lying still upon his chest
