Awards

by Michael D Nalley   Jan 5, 2007

Some solemnly seek prestigious awards
While others know humility has its rewards
Conceited pride is the vice that most despise
When it is our own self we wish to idolize

Abilities honored by graven images of gold
Are the treasures sought mostly by the bold
The world will be inherited by the meek
Though now they are mistaken for the weak

If you're running you may envy the fast
Yet the first one now shall latter be last
Dream of the future, forget about the past
Will we ever learn high places don't last?

This was beautiful, absolutely STUNNING. The words you used were so perfect and fit together, the lines were flawless, I absolutely loved this one:
"When it is our own self we wish to idolize "

    Great work.

This is an amazing poem, It's so true that in life everybody wants all the fame and fortune, but it's the things in life that are free that mean the most deep down and last the longest. excellent write 5/5

That was simply amazing! I don't know what to say. Well, maybe perhaps you could write more? Haha! I really liked it! Reminds me how awards are just things that remind us we once achieved some thing that was acknowleged. But it's really those little things that are the greatest rewards of all. Such as, family, friends and time spent with them. Anyway, great poem! I loved it!
