Her Infinite Solace

by Rona   Jan 7, 2007

Her eyes are closed,
As she walks along the shore.
Feeling the cool breeze,
She never felt before.

The sand in her toes,
Felt nice and warm.
She feels at peace,
Because she is far from harm.

The wind blew away her worries,
Her deepest regrets.
She longed to stay,
To experience sunsets.

Leaving her old life behind,
She did not care.
After all, it is her life,
It is only fair.

She opened her eyes,
Her soul reached out to the ocean.
Every breath she took,
Filled her with great emotion.

Her mind is free
From the every day commotion.
She calms her heart,
For it harbors such devotion.

Here at the sea,
She finds space.
Her spirit is at ease,
Her body moves with grace.

She plants her feet to the ground,
Never wanting to return.
Swearing she will stay,
For this solace is what she yearns.

Independent is what she is,
Silent are her cries.
Her inner beauty glows,
Deep within her eyes.

She closes her eyes once more,
Feeling the world around her.
Her dreams have come alive,
And reality is just a blur.

I really enjoyed the idea of this poem, but I think it would have been better served if you tried a different format, rather than the standard four line stanza and the abcb rhyme scheme. This was a good read, though, I enjoyed it.
