The story of a boy

by Danny   Jan 7, 2007

A long time ago
A boy's life was well
Nothing was wrong
As far as he could tell

He had one brother
And a sister on the way
He noticed his mom
Getting bigger everyday

His mom was on bed rest
She never left her bed
The boy by her side
Did everything she said

Whenever someone asks
What happened back then
He tells them once
And never again

I asked him one day
His eyes went red
He looked me in the eye
And this is what he said

She had the body of a swan
And the face of an angel
A halo overhead
And beauty below

She left us too soon
While I was still young
Without an I love you
Or goodbye my son

As she faded away
I didn't see
No even her thoughts
Was she thinking of me

I was told that night
What was going on
That mom wasn't coming home
That she was gone

I ran down the stairs
To see family there
Waiting for a child
To embrace with care

I asked why me
What did I do
Why not someone else
Why not you

I was only 6
Raised by my mother
Now I depended
On my father and brother

7 years past
And I'm almost grown
The pain in my heart
Is carved in stone

Carved in stone
So it will always stay
Permanent and forever
It will never go away

Deep in his heart
He never lets it show
If you never ask him
Then you will never know

That this story is true
That none of it was a lie
That someone in this boy's life
Really did die

This boy is real
As some may already see
That he is in front of you
That this boy is me
