All It Could Be

by Chemistry   Jan 10, 2007

I lie awake
This dim lit night
When I heed a voice
Though no one was in sight

The voice was soft
And tender so
It said my name
In a gentle tone

In an eager way
A hand found my cheek
I froze in fright
At what I could feel, but could not seek

The cold fingers stroking so freely
Who could it be?
Could someone be there?
Holding and touching me?

In a stream of thought
My mind begins to wonder
Maybe a ghost, a spirit a phantom
Or could it be a gremlin or a monster?

When my senses snapped
I began to see
A figment of my imagination
It was all it could be
