The Devil's Highway

by Jemma   Jan 19, 2007

Keep looking down 'cos I don't wanna see
A myriad of angels glaring down at me

Scurry like a mouse as I stalk the Devil's Highway
It all goes down hill when you do something my way
It's so cold on the road; I want some heat
Hell is hot so I'll follow my feet
Dead streets, dark homes and shadows gather
Murderers together rinse the foam of crimson lather
So flawless the misconception
So deep lies the deception
I can feel the lights that burn my eyes
Stars of truth that hate my lies
The sun reveals my scars in bold distaste
The night covers me, hides my cursed face
A lifetime' compensation
For such sweet intoxication
Further and further do the cobbles lead me on
Feet like stone; I've been walking for too long
I traipse after my footsteps trodden with such care
Each one coming nearer, closer to the Devil's Lair
And then realisation
And the frightening revelation
That the Devil lurks beneath my skin
Cavorting in the shadows within
And though patience lies waiting
There is no need worth sating
When you lie in the dark and it enters your soul
And there is nothing that can fill that gaping hole
For until you face him and fall
You cannot deny that call
Fate shall bring us with heavy sighs
To the place where the soul dies
And we shall tread each step with care
Each step taking us close, nearer to the Devil's lair

Keep looking down 'cos I don't wanna see
A myriad of angels glaring down at me
