Where would we be without pain?

by Dark Kitten   Jan 22, 2007

Pain is the ultimate addiction,
Worse than drugs, worse than sex,
It's a love you could not live without,
Yet it's a love that you wish would go away,
It's like trying to fight a storm,
You can not win, would not even try,
Pain is the enemy you can not kill,
Pain is the friend you need to survive,
It's the beauty that makes us real,
It's the ugliness that makes us feel,
Without pain, where would you be?
Not yourself in which you've known now,
You'd be alone, numb....
You wouldn't know the meaning of happiness,
The meaning of love,
The meaning of death,
There wouldn't be loss,
Wouldn't be gain,
You'd just be sitting there, waiting..
This.... This is the ultimate love,
The beauty of love,
Glorious pain

I really liked the overall word-choice here. The only criticism I have is I feel it would have flowed much better with a strict-ish structure. It was still good nonetheless.
