Faces

by Death By Stereo   Jan 30, 2007

My pen has been stuck in the off position
moving across the paper, nothing comes out
ink; stuck inside, my lighter can't make it run
frozen solid to it's walls, just like my thoughts

when my pen does work, it doodles in margins
drawing disproportioned faces glaring up at me
faces of people, I don't know, but would like to
they seem to hold the key to my thoughts.
--but they won't talk

when not doodling in all the margins
it is slowly drawing a blue brick wall
to cover the spots, where words should go
slowly covering up all my lined canvas

but these faces I see; they bother me the most
as if I have seen them before in dreams;
when I get most of my inspiration told to me
they seem to hold the key to my thoughts.
--but they won't talk

I sit back, stare at every one of them
drawn at angles, sideways and upside down.
Think; remember what was said in dreams because,
they seem to hold the key to my thoughts.
--but they won't talk
--but they won't talk

This is a very good poem. love how you give the pen a mind of its own. allowing it to draw instead of the person holding the pen it is a great way to personify it.
