The Sky Looks a Little Lonely Tonight

Everyone we know,
Everyone we see-
They can be gone a second,
Honestly, you can trust me.
That is the truth-
Harsh and yes,
Cold and cruel.
But best friends can lie,
And ignore you quite a bit.
And family can die,
And leave you with a sorry fit.
And places you know-
Can be demolished and bulldozed.
And friends you've come to love,
Can laugh at you
And just leave you in the dust.
And the sun that smiles?
The rain always washes it away.
And the only thing that really seems to last
Is empty, lonely pain.
