Tribute to john adams

by Independence Forever   Feb 13, 2007

He stood for liberty, atlas of independence
he dared to break past precedence

a native Massachusetts farmer
grew up to be quite the charmer

taking up the Boston massacre trials by his own will
he defended the British soldiers with the power of quill

a successful lawyer he tried to do what was right
to him independence from Britain seemed right

in the continental congress he shouted yeah for independence's vote
he feared he was not accomplishing anything to his wife he wrote

when independence was in sight he bribed for it with all haste
his opponents had nothing to say, they wanted time to waste

in 1796 he did become president of the united states
many didn't like him but he left in history many famous dates

he left a legacy for his heirs to follow
he is my hero, I'm not being shallow

you may like this poem or not, i don't care
for john Adams is a hero, i just thought I'd share

John Adams (1732-1826)
president (1796-1800)
had a son who became president and had several of his relatives be ministers to other countries and do many more things for this country
