The Music Box

by Emily Strickland   Apr 6, 2004

She Receives A Gift
On Her 15th Birthday
From Her Beloved Mother
Before She Passed Away

As She Unwraps The Paper
Hiding The Present Inside
She Rips Open The Case
And Throws It Aside

Inside A Music Box
In The Family For Years
Her Eyes Start To Clutter
As They Soon Fill With Tears

Now It Has Finally
Been Passed Down To Her
To Have To Herself
And Remember Her Mother

She Opens It Up
And The Music Begins To Play
She's To Choked Up
To Know What To Say

She Starts To Remember
As The Song Soon Plays
When Her Mother Was Still Alive
Those Were The Happy Days

She Always Opens It
Just To Hear The Song
For When She Hears It Play
She Feels Nothing Can Go Wrong

Everyday She Listens To It
As The Melody Flows Through
She Remembers Her Mother
And Everything They Used To Do

This Music Box Is Special
As Anyone Can See
Inside This Special Box
Is A Whole Life's Story

She Cherish's The Music Box
And Holds It Close To Heart
For Then She Feels
Her Mother Is Never Far Apart
