A Whispering Cliche

by Sarah Ann   Mar 4, 2007

I'd sell my soul for you
If you can comfort me
With words that shine my darkened days
And thrust all my distress away
I'd sell my soul to hear your voice
In the midst of any sudden choice
Whispering that sorrowed cliche...
How, "Everything will be okay"

I'd cross his road at anytime
If you would meet me there
Where the fields are dark and rivers weep
Satan can have my blood to keep
If you were there; I'd guarantee
Life would pass by beautifully
And when you promise I would know
"My love will never let me go."

I will follow that cliche
And of course, I'll be okay

This is beautifully sad. I love the title, very unique. The last two lines were a perfect ending, too. Excellent, yet heartwrenching poem...
