Guilty Conscience

by Sarah Ann   Mar 18, 2007

Something's sparking deep inside of me
Still hurting inevitably
To honor you, what shall I say?
I love you.
There's no other way.

To get through life you must be there
Breathing my soul; sharing my air
But what it is that hurts the most
Shall not be heard,
And not exposed.

I confess, my love I will not speak
For in your presence I am weak
My strength somehow abandons truth
And this guilty conscience
Prays on you.

Threatening to cry buckets of tears
Hiding dark secrets; natural fears
It's you I love...but you're not One.
My heart is lost
I am undone.

This guilty conscience; laborious art
By regular approach, essayed the heart
Yet it has not won; to my distress
I wonder how much
I'll regret.
