To be free

by ivkr81   Mar 24, 2007

Too much focus on the what, the go-here go-there get where?
I'm looking for the why, the whats-on-the-way.
Its a nice day, sunny as it can be in January.
I should go for a walk, try and talk to those who will stop to discuss the slop--
the drudgery of how time passes, of the masses moving back and forth,
the fast smack of shoe to concrete, the beat to which we all conform--the norm?
eyes solely focussed on the ground, too busy to notice the skies,
or hear the sounds, or even glance to see what's goin down around.
"No time, man, no time; I know my plan--don't you understand?
No time to play, does it matter anyway? I do this every day."
Thats what they say
but I stay awhile,
to watch the miles and miles of people rushing to their destinations.
This entire nations full of those in office clothes
looking down their noses at me-- and I'm just trying to be free.

The point is clear in this poem. however, after the second line it doesnt flow quite as well to the third. maybe you could divide this poem into stanzas?

    nicely written. you have potential.
