Lord, Please Don't Let Him Go

by Sarah Ann   Mar 25, 2007

His young heart cannot be put to rest
Old fire still burns deep down inside
And I know it don't matter - But the tears I've cried
Have left my heart shattered.
Lord, please don't let him go

His gleeful face cannot be filled with gloom
Laughter still takes part in his day
It's unfair to take his joy away
And let burden topple down on us
Lord, please don't let him go

His pure heart cannot die out like this
To all it was forever kind
And I am shaking with regret for the words unsaid
Still lying on my tongue - still waiting for him to know
Lord, please don't let him go

His presence evokes the "live" in life
Is it fair to live life without him there?
The world will crumble all together
With lost souls stumbling forever
With no purpose...
Only woe
Lord, please...
Don't let him go.

--This is about my friend who had a heart attack, at such a young age...and he has some type of heart failure. We are all praying for him to hang in there.-- =[

I'm really sorry about your friend, and I hope he is okay. The poem was straight from the heart, which is why I enjoyed reading it so much. It sounded a bit like lyrics, especially the repetition used in it.

    Brilliant.

I just read a poem that made me cry, and this made me cry even harder. I don't know what to say. I can't even imagine how you must be feeling. I wish your friend, his family, and you all the best. Stay strong, hun! Ily.

OMG!!! Sarah, this is such a sad poem. It had me holding onto my monitor! I can't believe that! A heart attack at your age! That really scares me. This was such a beautifully written poem, about a really tragic thing. Very nicely done Sarah, it must have been hard to write this down.
