Sunny Days

by Melissa   Apr 3, 2007

Soon
I'll lose him
to kindergarten,
he will no longer
need me
as his daily playmate

But for now,
summer awaits us...

And we'll skip through her gardens
like nature intended us to,
bake delectable fruit pies
and top them with Ben & Jerry's
just for the calories,
eat a new popsicle
with each degree that rises,
wash Spencer from the hose
not missing the occasional water fight...

And at night when Miss Bella Luna
hugs us tight,
we'll count stars
as mom makes her secret wish again,
that time would never grow up
and we will always be
young and free and together
with each passing summer

Oh Melissa, this is just so precious.... I remember when my babies first started school and now they are grown and off on their own. You brought back some beautiful memories for me with this one. Thanks for sharing your beautiful heart with us!
