Deep

by Twisted Heart   Apr 12, 2007

Deep lies the hurt of nonexistence
Of dreams that died in vain
From chalice of the bitter wine
We drink to ease the pain.

Inside the mind, are hidden truths
That we may one day face
But with the bitterness of life
We sadly fall from grace.

Among the stars that glow above
Comes distant to the mind
A thought that perished with the sun
And left the joy behind.

Now deep within the darkness
Is a soul that drifts away
Among the pain of broken hearts
It lies in love's decay.

No longer does it shine with hope
No faith can find it there
Lost among the shattered dreams
It festers in despair.

So come the deep in shadows cast
Take heed the dying light
Tempt fate to hold you with regret
And comfort you tonight.

Wow. I am honestly speechless. This poem holds so much truth in it. Usually in poems like this, the rhyming feels forced and uncomfortable but I never get that feeling from yours, they just read so smoothly, I truly love all of your work Dear.
