The Library

by Allison   Apr 13, 2007

Shelves upon shelves of stories
Opened and closed by time.
Dusty and hidden in shadows,
To ignore them is considered a crime.

There are kings, planets, and vampires
All hidden between the four walls.
The silence presses down on their sanity,
Muffling their heart filled calls.

I, upon entering the library,
Hear them and reach out my hand.
Offering to ease their boredom,
For how it feels only I can understand.

Great write Alyson. I think if you shortened the lasy line to "how it feels only I understand" it would flow nicely at the end. I lived in the library and I love to read, I thought it was a great suject. Nice work and thanks for your comment.

Wonderful poem and an awesome idea...
    i love books...=)
i agree the most with the part:
"to ignore them is considered a crime",
i know many people that don't like to read, only play computer games and so on and i feel sick when i hear them say it...

    keep on writing
