A Wanderer's ballad

by Chad Picard   May 1, 2007

I want to see and be seen
just to hear and be heard
to touch and be touched
and to find a place where I can do this
on the road to happiness

I want to laugh and be laughed with
to learn and share learning
to love and be loved
as I walk my unmarked path

I want to help and be helped
heal and be healed
to both give and to get
to soothe heartache and regret
as I pitch my flimsy tent
by the road to happiness

I don't want harm or to harm others
will not lie to you sisters and brothers
will not look to sin (for its own sake)
though, I tell you, I'm no saint

I am just a wanderer
looking for the road to happiness
aren't we all just wanderers
looking for a road to happiness?
