Flies

by Shannon   May 25, 2007

City lights that drown the night
Puts our minds in a euphoric state
This is where the fun is at
Light surrounds the entire place

But behind these lights, is a dark tale
Drugs, violence, and sex fill the streets
The lights and fun cover it up
It leaves everything discreet

See that girl on the corner
She sells herself and gives them sex
Shes dressed nice and seems so happy
But did you know thats shes depressed?

See that guy with the nice car
He sells drugs to kids for a living
But he lost his best friend to his boss
And himself he has never forgiven

Now look at the homeless guy
He's just sitting there, by the wall
The drugs and city lights blinded him
He now has nothing, he lost it all

So remember the tale of city lights
Remember all their covert lies
Just see through their clever disguise
Or you will be drawn to the light, like flies

Wow, truly a work. The ending for me is usually the hardest part but you did it perfectly. Excellent.
