Jealousy

He's got a new girl
It's only been a week
She's the opposite of me,
The girl with a big beak

But I've always been here
In the background
A friend who listens
Whenever he has a problem

She doesn't like me
She thinks him and I are too close
That I'm trying to break them up
I laughed in her face!

I told her I'd ignore him then,
Ignore all his texts
Never answer my phone
Block him when I'm on-line
But then he came to me!

He asked if we could talk
He took a giant step towards me
I bit my bottom lip and tried to smile,
He looked at me and asked if anything was wrong
I said no.

You see I could have told the truth
I could have said yes,
I could have told him that his girlfriend was a freak.
That she was obsessive
That she thinks I'll jeopardize their relationship,
That he should dump her.

But I didn't
I'd never do that,
I just smiled and let him hug me goodbye;
As I silently watched him leave.

So yes I knew him for longer
And yes I love him to bits,
But that doesn't mean I'm jealous!
