As I Close My Eyes

I flutter my eyes close
and dream of what may be
The perfect world,
paradise beyond compare
-Infinite bliss

I take in a breath of air
and ignore the intoxicating poison
Imagining the scent of heaven
-tingling the tips of my nose
The fragrance of love and beauty

I reach for nothing
-yet see everything in my mind
I imagine touching scarlet flowers
Caressing the petals
So fragile, delicate, so exquisite

I can perceive the soft gush of water
-like crystal, almost invisible
Catch a glimpse of how it gently ripples
as I enter my fingers like swords separating the stream

I feel the sun shining down
over every soul, every heart
Feel the heat and warmth of God’s embrace
I hold the feeling of everlasting grace
Nothing can harm me- nothing will
My Lord is beside me, I am in His secure hands
