Love battles and their fighters

by Bradley Peter   Jul 3, 2007

Try seeing it from my side
Try always being wrong
I'm trying to make this work
I'm pretending like I'm strong
But I'm not, I'm just tired
And just trying to get through
I'm tired from all the battles
And I'm sure you're tired too

I'm trying to make you happy
I'm faking through the day
Choosing to bite my tongue
And just let sleeping dogs lay
Then something will happen
And the battles begin again
It's not exactly blood and guts
But that doesn't stop the pain

Is love no longer enough?
I don't know, and I don't care
I love you and that's that
But this love's too hard to bare
So I'm going for a little while
Just so I can clear my head
Give us both some space
So's to stop this bloodshed

It's interesting how you compare love to a war almost in a literal sense, made especially more real by your last line. It's like all the words and fights were literal bruises and scars. It's an interesting take on the whole experience. Good job!

This was beautifully written. the emotion and depth in this piece are easy for the reader to see, while the imagery created painted very vivid pictures in my mind. the flow was perfect throughout the entire piece. the only thing i didn't like was the use of so many I's. but apart from that, this is beautiful.

Pretty nice piece overall. I really loved your opening lines...
"Try seeing it from my side
    Try always being wrong"

I like how you say there's not necessarily blood and guts...but it doesn't make the fights any better and yet you conclude with the line about stopping bloodshed. It's pretty good! Really brings out the darker side of love...
