Twilight

by Once an Angel   Jul 10, 2007

As the sun dips slowly,
sunset burns through the sky.
Twilight's moment wakens,
and daylight drifts painfully by.

The shadows claw in darkness,
drawing the night's chill on.
choking the remaining light,
until the distant, nameless dawn.

Draped with the coal blackness,
strangled by the arms of night.
Hope's last shining beacon,
bleeds away its sight.

Spilling into the shadow,
engulfed by silence's power.
Hope is quickly buried alive,
by the fear of twilight's hour.

The diction (word choice) in this poem is amazing. It really brings out the images portrayed. I love it. Great job.
