In The Sands Of Time

by BEHROZE K PATEL   Jul 12, 2007

Tears for a past that had long faded
From my album of memories
Took me by surprise.

Its was unbelievable
As to how much
It still could hurt me

Discreetly wiping the tears
I tried once more to
Ignoreâ?¦denyâ?¦ its existence

I smiled, conversed,
With all in good humor
A picture of blissful happiness was I

Inside the overwhelming tears kept up
The fruitless struggle against
The walls of my eyes for hours

Predictably the walls held
Until tears had to concede defeat
To its daunting presence

I could only pity my heart
At the ridicules gorilla warfare
It wages against my head

Heart, past, tearsâ?¦
Have no place in
My head and presentâ?¦

People have been known
To come up to me and question
â??You are human or humanoid?â??

I reply to you as I reply to them
â??Humans have a heart, I donâ??t.
A ring of gold is what I sold it forâ??

Life is a trade market
And majority have long traded
Their hearts for gold and fame

I too am a statistic in this crowd
And if regret comes calling once in a while
I do what others like me do

Pull up our walls against our heart
Pug in our ears with sound of money
And wait out the storm

Life slowly but surely passes us by
And in death we fade away for ever
Lost & forgotten in the sands of time
