Cupid Stands Alone

In letters or in songs
the words will find me still
the pictures animate themselves
and lie low for the kill

and as i press play again
or place the pencil in my hand
my mind falls into a deep abyss
an everlasting quick sand

the words deceive to humble and lure
those unfortunate enough to hear
a heartbreak, two and one for the road
quickly adding reason to fear

and somewhere in the darkness
i see a light shining through
a smile spreads, how can it not
i surely thought it was you

but surprises everlasting and known
came to me that night
telling me this is where i belong
a lover of the light

i needn't have it but simply wish
for what better purpose would it seem
my how could i not understand it said
a dreamer must never reach the dream

for if it were to happen
quite a different darkness would surpass
you'd lose the words, the fans, the life
you must always stand behind the glass

and thought quite then i couldn't comprehend
these words that were said to me
in time, surely years and months
i started to agree

so i allowed the words their freedom
but left their meaning forever unknown
for all to grasp, ponder, and curse
i stood, like cupid, alone

-umm soo hopefully this explained why i couldn't leave..hell we all know I'm a failure :p
