Dear Father....

Dear father of mine
you called me today
we were supposed to have dinner
for my 14th birthday
you say you have to work?
we'll reschedule tomorrow?
but what about me?
will you just leave me in sorrow?

i waited for you to call
its been a week
will i ever get my birthday wish?
i long to hear you speak
life's hard enough
when your never around
but now you ignore me
like an annoying sound

i remember when i was young
i would dream of happy times
the fairy tales you told me
and the small nursery rhymes
then i would wake up screaming
because i remember your not there
but still i scream "I WANT MY DADDY,
THIS JUST ISN'T FAIR!"

my mom would cry with me
because she couldn't ease my pain
she hold me in her loving arms
and listen to the rain
you used to be my idol
I'd brag to all the kids at school
"my daddy's gonna be a cop,
bet your dad isn't that cool!"

but then i got older
wiser and mature
and no one ever knew
the pain you forced me to endure
you never did abuse me
though you were never by my side
to face the teenage things
like threaten the boyfriend who lied

so when you see my broken body
when i finally end it all
you should know who is to blame
you should know who is at fault
so i leave this note for you
maybe you'll shed a tear
and be sorry for once in your life
for being worst father of the year
