An Angel's Silent Tears

by blackheartslove   Aug 3, 2007

Emily Walker sits in class
A long sleeved shirt and tights beneath her dress
The summer heat makes her sweat
But she cannot let them see

Last week mommy got a new boyfriend
And last night they came home drunk
Mommy passed out on the living room floor
While the man had his way with Emily

When he was done, she ran to her room
And silently cried herself to sleep
She fearfully hid until he left
So scared of what he would do to her next

To school she wore the same dress everyday
Her hair dirty and matted
At home instead of the love she deserved
She was beaten and battered and bruised

This is the story
Of a single small child
But she is the cover girl
For so many more

Their stories are different
But the ending is always the same
A small pine box, lowered into the ground
With just a few strangers gathered around
