I knew this girl

Once upon a time
I knew this girl
Once upon a time
We grew up in our own world
I met this little girl age 13
Such a sweet smile
A sight to be seen
We grew older
We had our fights
My hand on her shoulder
Her voice on the phone at nights
She was my first puppy love kiss
The only girl who ever never really left
I knew this girl sometime back
You should see her
Her eyes darkish brown, hair so black
The relationships ended
We broke up
But we stayed friends
Talked as soon as we woke up
We'd scream and shout
Cries and smiles is what it was about

I knew this girl once
Now turned a woman
I knew this girl once
She's my strength when I'm in ruin
Now she's all grown up
I spoke to her on the phone last night
She cried a little
I tried to make her feel alright
She really can't see
I hope she understands
She helped me be me
And I want to return the favor
Through all the hurt
I'd be the help god gave her
I knew this girl once
That crazy princess
This girl is all grown up now
And we talk less
But still I make her smile somehow

This girl I call best friend of mine
She lives far away and we don't always have time
But I hope she knows
Her best friend's trying
After seven years
After all the pain and the tears
When we both needed help
We both showed we cared
I know this beautiful woman
But she's still that little girl
I know this beautiful woman
But I still remember our time in a whole different world.

Dedicated to Nadia Khalili my childhood sweetheart and since best friend.
