Adrift

by Ocean Soul   Oct 15, 2007

Winds howl tonight
My frightened soul runs to the sea
Winds blow cold tonight
My downcast eyes drop their tears

Running away
Searching for refugee in the silence
Flying away
To the distant shores of the mind

Heart without shelter
Dragged by the streams of broken dreams
Rains of winter
Carrying away the hopes of me

Adrift, adrift we are
Wandering on obscure paths
The light of the sun we've lost
In war to defend our false gods

Adrift, adrift all we are
Errant souls, no home, no land
The beauty of the moon we've lost
In war to defend our false gods
