Almost Lover

You came into my life and so quickly disappeared,
Taking away these feelings, just as I feared.
Built up a foundation, onto the tear it apart,
When you left me here you stole my heart.

Sucked me in with sweet words and lies,
Fell for you as you gazed into my eyes.
People said, "Are you going out with her"
But all you ever were was my almost lover.

Now you won't even talk to me, as days turn black,
Left me here broken when you coldly turned your back.
Thought the connection we had was the real,
But now I'm hurt, and only you could heal.

Took over my thoughts, your name written everywhere,
Drawing pictures of you, for no one else do I care.
Not nearly as much as I do for you, but it's too late,
The only memory I have is our almost date.

Kept trying to hold onto that night at the mall,
As we sat hand in hand as the rain did fall.
But now that's all gone, you didn't even care,
There was no passion behind your stare.
