Disapear

by Rayne   Nov 1, 2007

Faded black nail polish
wristbands that cover forgotten scars
the smell of Mary still lingers on his breath
but it doesn't hide the effects of the bars
but she still listens
as he sings their song
and for that minute
she holds her breath too long
as they lace their hands
like the corset she puts on at night
to dance beneath
a hot strobe light
to put on a show
for an audience of one
his golden green's witness
her mascara run
to foreshadow the secrets
that creep into her life
she sets them in with fear
than carves them out with a knife
but the more her make-up
seems to smear
the more he pulls
his goddess near
for she has a heart
though it may be broken
he rescues her
with words unspoken
so he continues to sing
as he holds her near
and lets everything else
just disappear
