The Songs You Grow to Like.....

The Songs You Grow to Like Never Stick at First

Funny how the lyrics never matched my mood or taste
I thought the words were nothing but a harmonic waste
But sitting here tonight, after all the things he's done
The melody has changed, to a most soothing one.

The sadness in the words, I once mistook as fake
Were written by a soul who love managed to break
Each piece of their sorrows laid bare for all to hear
The honesty I share with it, let's me shed my tears.

The songs you grow to like never stick at first
You have to hit rock bottom and be at your worst.
Now, I'm lying here all covered in his dust
Getting knocked back down with each strong gust.

That's when it made sense, every word of despair.
It's like I wrote that song. All those feelings they put there.
The memories of him haunt me like this beat
I keep the car turned on and the song on repeat.

It's turned on to the max, windows are rolled down.
I sink into the past and let the problems drown.
For three minutes of my life it all seems okay
Knowing someone out there understands this pain.

Somebody's been as broken as I still feel inside.
Dragged into depression all too hard to hide.
I know the hurt will heal, my heart will start to mend
Just like the pain will leave, this song too will end.
