In The Corner

by FlawlesslyTarnished   Nov 21, 2007

She sits there in the corner
Wondering how this came to be
What wrong did she ever do
To upset her mommy and her daddy

She was just the age of 5
When these beatings had begun
Her daddy was an alcoholic
By her mother, she was shunned

He comes home every night
Not a day is he sober
Her parents bicker and b i t c h
She just wished it to be over

Every night she hides in bed
She listens to the creak of the stairs
As her daddy stumbles up
His eyes a flaming fiery flare

She sees his swaying shadow
Outside her bedroom door
Frightened, she closes her eyes
&&_the pain, she tries to ignore

The bruises she must cover
&&_the scars she must hide
Her confusion, hurt, and anger
She bottles up inside

Years have past &&_nothing has changed
No one knows of the pain she endures
She keeps it secret in her mind
While every night, she takes in more

She's slowly planning her escape
&&_tells no one, for she wants no mourners
She's patiently awaiting her death
As she sits there in the corner
