Blindfolded

by MyEscape   Dec 19, 2007

If I could close my eyes
My judgement would be clear
There'd be no disguise
To hinder what appears.

If I could hear my head
Over the beat of my heart
Than all that is said
Would honesty impart.

I tell myself, be strong
Listen close and be blind
Don't just be led along
Use not your heart, but mind.

This is not an easy task
When staring in blue eyes
It's hard not to look back
And decipher truth from lies

But like you, I want to see
The real person inside
Not perfection's imagery
Behind which we hide.

I've built up these walls
These defenses I keep
But I'll let them all fall
So you can see me

Would you do that too?
Could you tear down the past?
Let me see the real you.
That's all that I ask.
