Bring It On

by Namida   Dec 20, 2007

Laws,
languages,
rules,
countries.

It's sexist.

What is this,
mankind?

Who are they to rule over us,
beat us,
think us disabled?

We are intelligent,
peaceful,
and just as capable.

Sure, sure,
the politicians say,
we're better now,
you females can vote,
run for office,
get jobs.

So run along now,
and do the laundry,
dishes,
cleaning,
and housework.

We know we're the real men,
we bring in the dough,
you're just objects,
possessions,
things to be used.

Portrayed on bottles,
shirts,
slogans,
commercials.

We are not objects!
We are not fools!

We can think for ourselves,
stand strong for our families.

We can work,
we can hear,
we can get hurt.

And so can you.

But we are not more vulnerable!
We are not more precious!
Do not view us as a shiny, gold trophy,
perched upon your shelf to show off to your buddies.

You need us,
as we need you,
it is balanced.

You are not more superior,
more intelligent,
more strong.

So go ahead,
abandon us,
create obstacles we must leap over,
or destroy.

Open your eyes,
and clear your mind.

How hard must we press,
to make you see?

How loud must we shout,
to make you listen?

We'll prove it to you,
as we have many times over,
we want equality,
we need equality.

But until you wake up,
from your stupid dreams,
we'll take you.

So bring it on.
Bring on the laws,
the languages,
the countries.

We'll soon shake you awake,
and plunge you into reality,
that ice-cold bucket of water you dread.

And we'll show you,
we're not to be underestimated,
and we are all equal beings.

---------

Eh. I don't like it much. It didn't really turn out the way I wanted. Anyway, this is about womens equality and such, and I think I might write another piece on it later, when I can think clearly.
