But Home Is Nowhere

by Tammie   Jan 1, 2008

Walk with me, take my hand and lead me away from this place
Never let go until we reach the destination we are searching for
Swallow the darkness made of sorrow and dishonesty
I always wondered what the bright side would look like

Promise me with words so kind and pleasing on the ear
Surprise me with feelings I've never felt before so real
Sometimes I like to think that it will all be okay
But somewhere deep down, I know it won't be

For forever and a day I will walk away from here
Only to find myself winding up back in the same spot
Running in circles that have ends only at infinity
Irony caught up with me and always seems to get ahead

Wherever you want to take me, I will follow your lead
As long as we're together I could probably deal
So you said you'd take me home with you tonight
And that's when I let go of your hand and said

...but home is nowhere

Wow... The ending is simply heartbreaking. You managed to express emotions flawlessly, I could actually feel evrything that you expressed through the entire piece. Amazing poem, one of the best friendship pieces I read in a while. Happiness and sorrow mix to create deeply touching medley. I can't express how much I like this poem.
I can relate to this piece which made it even more heartfelt for me.
The firs stanza is my favorite, and fantastic ending of course.
You should be proud on this poem!
