Not Coming Back

For my BFF!

At the time of my actions
I meant what I said
In perfect unison
Were my heart and my head

But time and circumstance
Nullified my thoughts
I tried making them real
But they can't be what they're not

Months are elapsing
You're not moving on
You've nothing to grasp
But still you hold on

I've already let go
To the reminders of you
I feel I must suggest
You do the same, too

I know you feel rejected
Lied to, even used
But you are at some fault
When you poke at your bruise

I want you to be happy
But I won't pretend
I'm doing you a favor
By putting this to an end

I've tried and tried again
To recreate love's sensation
No matter how hard I try
It ends in aggravation

I needed you to really see
I didn't just give up
I put in it my whole heart
But that wasn't enough

See me as a lesson
A good thing you once had
But stop viewing me as someone
You have a chance of getting back.
