Still Remains

by Sarah Ann   Jan 18, 2008

I picture you out there, still missing you here
It must be beautiful this time of year
All those East Coast leaves
Floating round like embers from burning trees...

Well the weather out here is just the same,
And the garden that you planted remains.
I still dream of a world, and a better place
Where I don't have to put on a happy face
And I'm sure that in passing,

one day you'll remember

Our indoor nights, this lost December...

And it's pathetic, but I still raise my glass
To the memories we had - to what didn't last
We almost had it right
But puzzle pieces misaligned
And you were talking in your sleep
But I was never in your dreams...

Just know,
Things out here are still the same
And the heart you're crushing. remains

    Wow...
This is so touching from the beginning to the end. Heartfelt, deep and truly greatly written piece. I can't express how much I like it- you managed to express emotions excellently in each stanza. The imagery is very vivid and portrayed on a fantastic way, it filled my mind with lively pictures.
The ending stanza is very effective, it's excellent conclusion to the expressed sadness.
    Keep writing!
